Travel Hockey 10U-14U
With our travel hockey program, players will be traveling to other rinks around the state and nearby states, to gain competitive competition and skill development. Extra commitment and costs will be required to play on these teams.
Players on the Black team can expect to travel to 4-5 tournaments in a season as well as play a home and away series of league games in the Utah Amateur Hockey League (UAHL). High level attendance expectations for practices, games, and tournaments will required for this team. (6u/8u teams will have significantly less cost/travel/requirements)
Players for the White team can expect approximately 3 tournaments as well as league games in the UAHL. This team may be a better fit for those families and players looking for more flexibility and less commitment.
In order to be considered for a travel team players must attend a tryout. Each team will have a contract/fact sheet to show the requirements needed for those teams before tryouts. Information will be announced on the main page and in team chats for dates and times.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much travel will be involved?
Depending on the team players should plan to be traveling out of the Vernal area 2-3 weekends in a month. Our scheduler will always try to not overwhelm families with unnecessary travel and costs, but also strives to be sure each team is getting enough games to grow players skill and development with the competition from other teams. Black teams will travel more than White teams.
What do the players registration fees cover?
Registration fees mainly include the ice time for practices and home games. A portion of the fees go towards several other areas in helping the club run including coaching and volunteer reimbursements, team parties, tournaments, referees, coaching equipment and more. The players registration fee also includes a volunteer fee that can be given back to parents at the end of the season if families have completed the hours needed. See the FAQ below for more information about becoming a volunteer.
How can I volunteer?
AVAHA is always in need of great volunteers. Our hockey association would not happen if it wasn't for our volunteers. Coaching, managing, scorekeeping, board members, fundraising efforts are all areas of need. Please see our volunteer page for more information.
Why do we need to fundraise?
Player registration fees only cover so much. Approximately 40% of the overall costs to run the league are covered by fundraising. Ashley Valley Hockey works hard to help families cut costs of the sport by organizing fundraising opportunities. We understand fundraising takes a lot of time and effort. Parents are always given the option to opt out of the league wide fundraiser and just pay cash instead. We greatly appreciate our volunteers who work behind the scenes contributing to all the fundraising efforts put on by AVAHA. Because of them many players of our association are able to play hockey!
Why does my player need a USA Hockey number?
USA Hockey provides catastrophic insurance coverage to its members, which is a significant benefit for players, their families, and the association. Ashley Valley Hockey is an affiliate of USA Hockey. Because of this USA Hockey provides coaching resources as well as free SafeSport training to all volunteers to help insure players safety.
